Bill Clinton signed the taxpayer relief act of 1997.

Although Reagan signed a tax cut package in 1981, he later hiked taxes all throughout his presidency.
And the tax cut he signed in 1986 was sponsored by democrats Dick Gephardt & Bill Bradley.

And you know President George H. W. Bush raised taxes after promising not to.

And remember the 145.9 billion dollar tax relief package Bush passed in 2004?
Democrats voted in favor of that.
That was Bush's only tax cut package that didn't mostly go to the wealthy.

Dems voted against the other tax cuts because they mostly benefited the wealthy, and that's how you republicans play with their voting record making it seem like they are tax-hikers.

But there really is no validity behind your claim that all dems hike taxes on the middle class, while the republicans favor tax cuts.

& Why do you contradict yourselves? You made two different claims:
1. Obama wants "socialism" (taking from the rich, giving to the lower classes)
2. Obama will raise taxes on everyone, including the lower taxes.

Your two claims contradict each other.

p.s. Please don't say "Cite your sources".....If you type this stuff in google searches, you will find them very quickly.

TG: Our military wasn't at war. It was a time of peace and prosperity. You call that weak?
Bob G people focus mostly on income tax because that's the hardest tax to get out of paying.
With sales tax, property tax, etc. the amount you pay is based on the amount you buy and you have more control over how much you pay in taxes.
But people are forced to pay income taxes and dont tell me working for a living is voluntary.

I'm sorry but didn't Clinton promise a tax cut in 1992 but then gave out a tax increase in 1993. In fact, wasn't that one of the major issues on why the GOP took control over Congress in 1994. Speaking of that, if you credit the Dem Congress for Reagan's tax cut, then surely you would credit Clinton's ONLY tax cut to the GOP Congress in 1997.

Conservatives tend to forget their small government, low tax hero was actually the opposite.

hmm, I'd lke to know the answer to this too. Obama being a socialist is a republican talking point and it's all they have to talk about. bush is a corporate socialist yet republicans support him like it's their job.

If you had two candidates: one who said he'd cut taxes and another who said he'd raise taxes, which would you vote for? Exactly, you'd vote for the one who promises to cut taxes and hope he keeps his promise.

Three months after getting office, Clinton raised the FICA.
That hit every single working person across the board. It was the highest tax hike ever! Highest ever!

This is known to some of us... I was republican at that time and I appreciated Clinton in this regard, and never forgave Reagan and Bush senior for making the cut taxes fuss then raising taxes. My transformation to an independent began when I tried to point this out to fellow republicans and it was as if they had lived in a parallel universe.

Clinton also worked effectively with Congress, which was republican controlled, until the republicans decided to go ballistic on him toward the end.

Clinton was the only modern president to effectively rein in welfare.

Republicans just can't seem to remember any of this.
They also have trouble remembering that Clinton caught, tried and convicted the first world trade center bombers.

As I say, this is why I left the republican party.

Republican always said "they will raise your texes" regardless. This is in their blood and millions fools believed it.

OK, if Obama raises the oil tax, who does that hurt more? The people paying no income tax will still be taxed more due to this one usage tax.

Why do people ONLY look at income tax?
