VIEW ALL PHOTOS IN GALLERYMissed out on Microsoft's month-long $100 Surface Pro price cut? Not to worry. Redmond is reportedly rolling out the discount as a permanent price change.
The Surface Pro will now start at $799 in all markets where the tablet is sold, including the U.S., Canada, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Additionally, Microsoft dropped $40 from Touch Cover price tags, now selling the accessory for $79; the limited-edition version is available for $89. Surface RT/Touch Cover bundles will now start at $399.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to PCMag's request for comment, but a spokesman confirmed the news to Neowin in a statement.
"The customer response to recent Surface pricing and keyboard-cover promotions has been exciting to see, and we are proud to begin rollout of Surface Pro, Touch Cover and Surface RT bundles at even more affordable prices starting [Aug. 29. People who buy Surface love Surface, and we're eager for more people to get their hands on this incredible device," Redmond told the blog.

The Type Cover, however, will retain its $129.99 price tag.
European customers will also benefit from the cuts, which follow a recent Surface RT discount across the nation (and the U.S.). For the first time in the U.K., the 64GB Pro model will now start at £639, while its larger 128GB counterpart will cost £719 — down from £799, according to The Next Web.
Markdowns vary across the continent, though most consumers can expect an average €100 difference. Buyers in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Finland, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Spain can pick up the 64GB or 128GB Windows 8-based slate for €779 or €879, respectively.
Microsoft initially launched its sale price early this month, promising the discount until Aug. 29.
