Replacing a Suzuki ignition cylinder and ignition housing?

So our 2006 Suzuki Forenza has had progressive problems with the key not turning in the ignition. Eventually it got stuck for good and had to have it towed off to the Dealer. We asked for a new coded key hoping it was just the key itself. They called back with a $700 to replace the jammed ignition cylinder and housing. Apparently replacing the housing is the difficult part.

I have friends who are mechanics but don't work with Suzuki's. How can this be done without paying $450 in labor to the dealership.

A coded key only,at dealership can cost around $150.
they are fitting a new cylinder and housing you could check on the prices of these parts i believe they come as one kit(switch)key included.
you could have it replaced by you friend but will he have the equipment to code, unless you have it towed from and back to dealer.
