Ok, so I was driving in my car, and set my 8 GB iPhone in my cupholder after sending a message. (yeahhhh, i know I shouldn't text and drive. whatevever.) After about 3 minutes my phone recieved a message and my screen was really cracked! Long ones, all along the screen. You can still see the LCD screen, and its not going black. It just looks horrible.

I looked on some other questions and I got a hell of a lot different responses. Some said just take it in the store and they fixed it for free, others said they'd ship you a brand new one, and some said apple wouldn't do anything.

So I decided to call in Apple ,myself, and got this ANNOYING ass spanish man. He said they can't do anything about it and it would cost me 250 bucks to repair it! Thats BS! If I took it in to the store, will they fix it for free, or at least at a REASONABLE price thats not more than half of what my iPhone costs?

thats terrible! omg im so sorry! =/

take it into att and see what they can do... there has got to be some waranty they will honor! hope it all gets resolved

in the meantime you should purchase a cheap go phone as not to further andy damage

Sorry about all of the confusion. This tends to happen to iPhone customers since Apple really has no idea how to use their own phones. They would not consider it a manufacturer defect, since it was not that way when you purchased it. It is this way with every wireless carrier. $250.00 is actually cheaper than I would have expected. Recent reports has stated that their is absolutely no insurance on the iPhone available and that if it breaks, you will have to replace it at full retail price (starting at 950.00). Stores do not have the ability to repair the phones. Cingular/ATT takes no part in the iPhone, except to provide wireless service to them (Apple wants to take complete control and Cingular agreed, hints why the first wireless carrier asked to provide it service was Verizon, but Verizon said "I don't think so!"). If you were to go into any store, it would need to be an Apple Store (if they even exist). They most likely couldn't help you because they do not carry supplies to fix the phone in their store and they will not provide you with a warranty exchange phone, since it broke. I have a feeling the guy spoke to actually gave you the best deal.

What you are experiencing is the reason I choose the Voyager with Verizon rather than the iPhone...it is chaos.

From someone who works for a warranty co. If you think the store gives a damn, unless its a local business, about your product you haven't obviously gone to the store with your problem yet then. They will send it to an auth mechanic or tech of the manufacturer and get it back and give it to you as though they did the work...some companies have their own techs but very few, like Best Buy and Sears, so unless you called a store that has their own techs and they told you their parts and labor was cheaper, don't think they would have done it cheaper out of customer loyalty.
