Replace Kyocera 7135/Verizon/new plan

I have a Kyocera 7135 on a family share plan for many years. My plan includes 500 shared minutes with no charge for e-mail/web during nights and weekends or it takes from my minutes at other times. No extra data plan.

I want to switch to a new smartphone (Q??) or another reccommended one.
I like the touch screen, voice dial, etc. on my current phone.

If I switch to another phone, I assume that I lose my current contract and have to go to a newer, more expensive one with more (700) included minutes and also that I would lose my no charge for data and would also need to buy a data plan.

Is there any way around this or am I right in thinking that I have no choice?

I look forward to any help on this matter.

Thank you!

Well if you buy a phone from Verizon directly and renew your contract, they will change you plan to the more current.

If you buy elsewhere you can keep your plan you have now and just do a ESN switch.

Anyways I would recommend the 700w or 700p or the Motorola Q. You can get it off ebay for around 500.00 and then just do a ESN switch but getting it off their site for 199.99 requires you to buy a Data plan. SO you would loose your plan and furthermore HAVE to pay for a data plan. The 700w and 700p dont require you todo this.

I would say to keep your plan go on ebay and spend the extra money to get a headset.
