Repairing A/C in a Dodge Stratus?

When I bought my 2002 Dodge Stratus last year, the ac worked on all levels (1-4) with freezing air, just as it should. When I bought the car and researched it, I saw that Stratus' commonly have an issue with the ac later in their life as well as the timing belt. I've already replaced the timing belt, and in due time the AC has stopped working except on level 4. Does anyone know how to go about fixing this? Can I do it myself or take it to a mechanic? I've heard about having to recharge your ac, but I'm not sure if this is the same repair. Does anyone know anything about how to fix this?
 
The fan speed resistor has apparently gone bad if you have only one speed. Check with local auto parts stores to see if one available, and a local mechanic to see how much trouble to put in.
