My A/C and heater stoped working on my 2000 Honda Civic LX anout a year and a half ago. I didnt get it fixed then, because I was leaving the country to work overseas for awhile. Now Im back and want to repair the car but I dont remember whats wrong. I took it to a Honda shop a year and a half ago and they told me something clamped down and put pressure on a belt which broke and caused me to not have A/C. They told me to repair it would be like $1800 and they said it could cost like $3000 if there was something else wrong. Now I want to get the car repaired somewhere else for cheaper, but I need to know what was wrong and how much it would cost to replace it. Is it ok to use parts from a Junkyard? How much do you think it would cost to repair this? The car is only worth $3,300 according to KBB but it runs great except for the A/C and I would like to get it fixed.
Thanks.
It tries to run the A/C and heat but it makes a weird noise and not much happens, definately no cool air comes out. A tiny bit of hot air will though if its on hot. Barely noticable if you place your hand there.
I remember I was having problems starting my car, I took it to Honda and they told me what they said it was and that a belt came off when they were looking. After that the car ran perfectly so something happend, wether it was the belt coming off or something else.
Thanks.
