Rental issue, jail or fine?

I'm not sure if what district justice is. I"m guessing you are not in the US.

Basically, if he still has the computer and is not paying on it, he is stealing it. He could be arrested for some kind of theft.

If they are not holding up their end of the bargain, he should read the contract and see if he can return the computer.

On a legal basis, he could argue that his obligation to pay does not arise until the do their end of the lease. However, that won't keep him from being arrested for theft if they aren't doing what they should do.

So this has me concerned..

I have a friend who has been leasing a computer through a local retailer named Aaron's. He chose not to pay on the PC last month because of issues he has had with them not holding up their end of the lease. He told me today that they called him and said they are submitting the problem to the District Justice.

What would actually happen? If he is just going to be fine, I could loan him the money. But he isn't going to be arrested and thrown in jail, right?
