Rent Or Buy

Dear All,

i allready have bev, since 2000, only SD, in a couple of week i will buy an HDTV I'm very interested to have the new hd pvr (9242), i know that with retention at BEV you can have for a free year on a rental the 9242.

How does rental work is it better for the time to have a free rental for a year then to buy a new pvr hd the next year.

I would get the free rental for a year and make up my mind in 2009 or when and if they go on sale. you also get a free upgrade install. I also makes it easier to walk away if expressvu raises it HD rates. No incentive to buy right now.
Now if the rental was not free for a year you might have a decision to make.
 
I bought a 9200, and i'm pleased with it... Though I wish I would have rented because when new hardware comes out you will always have the edge, and I have a feeling that MPEG4 is on the horizon which meens new boxes for all!!! So rental would be my choice at this present time.
 
To each his own, everyone's situation and preference is different, but I agree with Haystack. Rent a HD unit at this time. The current 61xx and 92xx series have a number of bugs (discussed to death in other threads) that some find minor, annoying or to some, huge.

These will either be fixed or a new model introduced so I would rent, besides, as mentioned, you will likely get it free for at least a year.
