Rendering a video for Sony Vegas Pro 10.0 Trial?

I downloaded a trial version of Sony Vegas for a school project. I'm finished and I tried to render the project into a playable video file (.mp4) but every I tried doesn't work. No matter what I save it as, it plays either a black screen for a few seconds, or it plays a short clip from my video without the audio. Help Please?!?!
