Removing the fuel tank

Hello, I need to install my timing belt cover for my 2006 749 s. Alas the thing doesnt just slide out and replace. It is clear to me that I have to move the fuel tank in order to pull it through the top. I am mechanically inclined but only to a degree. I can change clutch covers, do oil changes and replace levers (that sort of thing) but I am not confident in doing extensive repairs. The reason why I bring this up is because this really doesnt look too complex. It looks like I remove the seat and undo a couple of bolts and the tank should come right off. Could someone who has first hand knowledge give me a run through? Is the tank hinged in the front? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers!

Remove the seat and both sidecovers.I remove the rubber ignition key surround as well.Undo the mount bolt at the back of the tank and lift the tank at the rear a few inches and support it in this position with apiece of wood or something.I always drain the fuel from the tank.
Disconnect the electrical connector and the vent and overflow hoses.Squeeze the knurled section of the QD fuel connectors and pull them down. You may lose some fuel here from the filter and pump inside the tank(1/2 a cup full)so have some rags handy to absorb.
unhook the hoses from the metal clips under the tank.
Grab the tank and wiggle from side to side as you pull it towards the rear of the bike.when its off you will see how the fwd mounts work.
To remove the rear belt cover disconnect the crankcase breather hose at the crakcase valve and bend it fwd and out of the way.I also remove the anchor nut for the sidecover as well.I have the front belt cover off to,just undo the mount screws for it and pull it fwd and out.
Remove all the mount bolts for the rear cover and slide it to the rear and upwards.
Its a tricky thing to get out but up and back is the direction you need to go in.

You may be able to wiggle the belt cover out if you remove the four bolts for the seat and lift the tank slightly and move it to the left hand side of the bike. About an inch I think. The front of the tank is located on two horizontal studs - when you adjust the seat fore and aft, it's sliding along those studs....it's not rigidly mounted like most bikes.
