Removing paint, or finish from glass floor tiles?

I make glass tile necklaces and cannot figure out how the crafters that I buy them from remove the finish from the tiles.
They are clearly floor tiles, but they are completely clear glass.
I'm assuming they are fired in a kiln, because I've tried every other method of removing them. I've tried chemicals, sanding,etc.
Does anyone know how to do this?
