Removing a subwoofer from a Jeep Liberty?

Last year I bought a Rockford Fosgate sub with 2 12" speakers and a huge box around them for my Jeep Liberty it seemed like a good idea at the time and I enjoy the sound from it, but I want to take it out because it's taking up too much room in the cargo area. My question is, can I get away with just unplugging the sub and amp or do I have to go to where I had it installed or another store to get it removed? Thanks.
 
Jl audio makes a small box for the model...It don't take up much room and sounds great.
