removeing shifter from rod going to trans.

i am in the process of removeing the heel toe shifter and was wondering does the rod just pop off of the shifter or is there another way to remove it. any help please. thank you.
 
Mark the shifter shaft with a %%%%% punch or magic-marker to make putting it back together easier.
Next you must totally remove the pinch bolt.
The shifter may still be tight on the splined shaft even with the bolt removed.
A screwdriver can spread it open a little and it should slide right off.
