Remove Root

I just got a second G1 that I bought from a Guy at work. It is for my wife who does not need root. So my question is can I just downgrade to 29 then do the OTA 33 update to remove root?

Ok, let me sneak this one in so as not to have to start a separate thread: if you have root, can you downland and save (for instance) PDF or Word files that arrive on an email to the phone? Thanks...

This is more of a differnet question but, I just got root for my G1 and i've come to the conclusion that root is stupid.

Now Im just wondering what are the steps to removing root and getting back on track with stock settings and RC33. And because i've rooted my phone if I remove root will i still be able to receive OTA updates?

Or will I have to manually update now every time a new version comes out?

Yes that would be one way.
I would opt to keep root and just set it up for her. You only benefit with root. You'll save a lot of space and make somethings really convenient with root on G1.

Dont thread jack. Search please, this has been discussed.
As far as root being "stupid", is that because you couldnt get things to work or because you dont fully understand what capabilities and advantages you gain while having root??

Keep root because you may not want it now but down the line something will develope that you need root for and you won't have it. What if T-mobile finds away to perminantly disable root for those who don't already have it?

Hi, I've got problems after root (Market doesn't work, the application "Move Cache For Root Users" open a BLACK and EMPTY page named "SU permission" that freezes my device. so I want to remove root and to get it again.

can you explain me how can i remove it? please!

thank you very much!

I can, and here's how you do it

after you do steps 1-7, you can look around on google to find the updates if you don't want to wait for your phone to search.
