I started my car today and there was a muffled rattling sound. I took it to Midas (mechanics) they said the heat shield was loose and that they were going to just remove it and it wouldn't affect anything. If it won't affect anything, then why is it on the car to begin with? What does the heat shield do? Should I be worried about future repairs due to this being removed?
