Can any hardware gurus comfirm if this remote should work with my 6000 receiver with the UHF key. I bought one and was told it should work but it doesn't appear to. Maybe I'm missing something but it's on freq 1 and so is the receiver:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/downloads/pdf/technology/remote/5_6_8_Remote_Control.pdf

It's labeled for Dish Network and called the UHF Pro 8.0. Looks like the one listed on Bells site which is listed as compatible with the 6000 receiver:

That remote will not work on a 6000 receiver.

You need the older style; IIRC it is called 6.0 instead of 8.0

I just tested my UHF Pro 8.0 remote #2 with a 6000. It will work but you must use the AUX device. To program the remote: 1. Hold the AUX button down until all buttons flash. 2. Enter the receivers remote code preceded by 3 (i.e. 301) Press #. The receiver's remote code can be found on the info screen (Menu-6-1-3).

Changing the blue/green key on the bottom of the remote to 1 may also work. How to do this is described in the manual.

p.s. To change the receiver remote code, change the remote code code (valid codes are 1-16) and press record while on the Info screen.

It doesn't work for me. The key on the bottom is the same color as the remote and says UHF Pro on it. Any ideas? I'm not sure how those keys work are you supposed to get different ones?

This is what mine looks like and I don't see how to change keys at the bottom I thought that was only the 6.0. Here's what mine looks like:

Alright now I have the UHF Pro 6.0 remote and still no dice. This one has the blue key installed. Anybody know how I go about getting this working with my 6000?

i believe you need the remote labelled 6.2...that is the "newest" remote that should be compatible with your receiver...i beleive the 6.0 remotes are only for the 5200 and 3200 model receivers.

can't you exchange them where you bought them?...we have a 15 day return/exchange policy.

Did you use the AUX device and not the SAT device? Also, this may only work with IR, not RF.

With a 6000, you must make sure you buy a remote that is not a UHF PRO.

You must get a regular UHF remote and it should work fine.

^ if that's the case, you might have to look online somewhere...BEV only sells the standard IR remote (4100R) and the UHF PRO model (6.2, although some stores still have some older 6.0 models kicking around, but they only work with 3200 and 5200 receivers).

The new UHF remotes now comme with a little switch you can flip arround under the batteries which allows you to switch from UHF to UHF pro and vice versa. .. but only the newer models have this ( i.e. ones from the stores ) Not many of these must be on sale on ebay where he is getting his.

^ hmmmm...is that what the 1 and the 2 are for with that little tab?

one side is blue, the other is green.
