Remakes?

I know these have been mentioned in another couple of threaRAB but just wondering which are peoples best and worst (or completely pointless) remakes.

The best I can come up with is Heat (remake of LA Takedown)

The most completely pointless I can think of is The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The original was scary enough - why waste my time and theirs? ;)

Dawn of the Dead was a good remake(not really a remake though)

I also enjoyed The Ring, Dark Water(without seeing it as a horror movie), still enjoy the originals a lot more.

House on Haunted Hill was better than the original imo.

Pointless remakes, humm The Fog, The Omen, A Tale of Two Sisters, Infernal Affairs, Oldboy um, ALL remakes are mostly pointless.

Gus Van Sant's Psycho was awful; when researching for an essay I actually came across a journal article listing 101 reasons why it sucked! Good read actually LOL :D

Recent contender for worst has to be the Mancurian Candidate though Alfie sucked pretty badly as well.

If tv adaptations are up for grabs though ignore the above and go for Bewitched which forces me to move into foriegn languages to find enough swear worRAB to cover how vile it is

Best I'm sticking with a classic and going for the Magnificent Seven

Pretty much all remakes are pointless money making machines... there's only a few very rare examples where they were way better, can't even think of them now. If you are going to remake something then it should be totally different unless the original was a really poor movie.
