Why do the studios stagger release dates around the world?

It really annoys me that a movie is release in one country one month and another a second....

And they wonder why piracy is rampant?

American schools go on holiday earlier than the UK ones, as do most of the Southern European ones....

Only BIG films that are guaranteed audiences will release within days of each other around the world, like Star Wars. It slows pirating down for those who really want to see it.

My biggest argument is Regionalising DVD's and the length of time it takes to go from screen to small screen. Why should I wait 6 months...
