Regarding the use of apple wood for grilling and smoking?

I have asked a local area orchard about obtaining some apple wood for grilling( this is about time for pruning tree's), but they had said NOT to use apple wood, because of the insecticides they use are "systemic", meaning some insecticide would be in the wood itself. Is there a safe, reliable, and organic supplier for clean apple wood?
 
I would put an ad on Craig's List in your area asking for organic apple wood trimmings.
