Happy Saturday!

Does anyone here experience a "clogged" feeling in the throat at night? I can't figure out if it's just acid reflux or mucous. The clogged feeling starts shortly before I lie down to go to bed and by the time I wake up around 2:00 in the morning to use the bathroom my throat feels like it's flooded and I can barely swallow. It also feels like my throat is about to close up.

When I wake up in the morning, it's even worse and it takes HOURS after I get up and eat to go away. I don't know why this is happening. All I know is that when it does, I'm scared to death that the feeling will never go away.

I'm also feeling a tremendous amount of sinus pressure in my face (like every time I chew or yawn, the top of my face hurts )

I use nasal sprays to deal with my sinusitis, and home remedies to try to get the mucous down; but i have no idea how to deal with this clogged feeling. All I know is it's stopped me from sleeping properly for this whole week. And it sucks. :-(

Any advice?

Hi. Are you elevating your upper body at night? That might help. I used to wake up occasionally gasping for breath or would wake up in the middle of the night with the feeling that I was drowning in sinus drainage (what I thought at the time). Oh, I HATED that. Once I started elevating my upper body at night (initially with more pillows and now with a wedge pillow), everything settled down for me at night. I still don't know if these episodes were related to my sinuses or to reflux, but all I care is that they've stopped. I also often take a Benedryl at bedtime because it helps ease me into sleep and also keeps my sinus drainage to a minimum. I'm convinced it helps me get a good night's sleep. My doc said it's safe to do as long as it doesn't seem to be drying out my nasal cavities too much. (I counteract this by using saline spray religiously every day.) Good luck!
