I am considering a military lifestyle, more specifically, serving as an AF officer via USAFA.

Everyone, with the exception of one, who I have conversed with reflected positively on their military background.

I realize that there are many many many positives and benefits to a military lifestyle but i still ask myself if I would have any setback on the fact that I would be trained to kill.

What do you have to say? Especially regarding the above concern

Joining the military is a highly respected decision and it can really change you in such a positive way. You're being trained to kill those who pose a threat to us, the citizens of the United States, and most of us are thankful for the men and women serving our country. Don't listen to these left wing, military bashing idiots who call the military evil. If you really want to join then don't hesitate. Once your done in the military, especially the air force, you can find a really good job in the field of aeronautics.

It sounds like you are just joining for the benefits. Think it over.

USNA next year.

If this is something you really want to do then go for it. Weigh your pros and cons and see what suits you best. Personally I think military life is great, I love what I do and I love the military, but it's really not for everyone, so think hard before entering.

Also, this trained to kill stuff, you are trained to defend. It's not like you are going to be given a weapon and told have at it. If you are shooting at someone, it's because it means people's lives; including your own.
