reece witherspoon- very good actress

After watching 'Walk the line' i thought reece witherspoon was the stand out actress in that film- she was fantastic...
which is weird because she has got a lot of critcism for the whole "legally blonde" era.

Do you think people dont see the good acting ability just because it is a comedy role?

This seems to be a consistent theme in hollywood, with very little comdeic roles getting any award recognition from oscars. Any opinions on this?
 
Reece Witherspoon was very good in Walk The Line but she didnt deserve the oscar for it, she has given 2 better performances before which are Freeway and Election
 
I didn't think much of her until I saw her in Election (a few months ago). That proved to me she was a very diverse actress, I didn't think she could play that type of character, ended up loving the film because of her.
 
She is a great actress. I have watched many of her films over the years and she always gives great performances. Reece was brilliant in Walk The Line and deserved her Oscar.

Special mention for her performance in the film 'Election', which was just GREAT!! :cool:
 
I don't know much about her, except that there was rumour a while ago that she is going to play the title role in Steven Spielberg's forthcoming movie "The Heather Mill's Story - A Tale of Courage."
 
Im not sure id want to see that. I suppose in thory she is fantastic looking, but there is something very mumsy about her- shes more like a best friend type girl than a girl you would be interested in sexually.
 
I think after watching her in Cruel Intentions and election, she can come across as rather good two shoes and straight. I think she's a great actress, but doesn't always get the best roles.
