red, itchy and painful rash on vigina

i have a rash on and around my vigina - red spots that are really itchy and painful. any idea what they could be.. pls help as i am worried it could be serious

Have you recently had a wax or shaved down there? It can cause red spots....

Its no good guessing it sounds as though you might have thrush. You have been brave enough to go on line so use that bravery to get a gp appointment.

You could always try something like Vagisil and see if it helps till you can get to the gyno.

Thank you very much for a reply. i did work up the courage and have gone to see a doctor which has given me cream and pills to take. She thinks it might just be a fugal infection but if the medication doesn't help in 7 days then more blood test must be done. it is not shaving related. i hope this post will help others out there that might have the same problem.
