I have a 90L tropical fish tank and every 2 weeks io notice that a red fungus is growing on the glass. If i leave it for a week nearly the whole tank is covered in it. I usualy just whipe it off but it is becoming a big pain. Also its growing on the stones at the bottom. I do the usual change of a third of the water every week. I also have a small statue in the tank and the fungus seem to grown on that aswel.

The tank is kept at about 30 oC
There are only 4 angles in the tank.
I have a live plant and a fake one in.
The filter is usualy turned off at night but the heater is left on.

have you got a aeration in the tank? are you using a gravel cleaner as well , are you doing water tests? how many fish are in the tank? how is your Nitrate level? do a large water change 50%.. how much light are they getting ,is it sun light or a tank light?

This is called Beard Algae. The cause is introduction of contaminated plants or a bag of fish from a store tank with red algae. The ONLY way to rid yourself of it once you've got it is to either get a Simaese Algae Eater or take all your fish out and clean your tank and ornaments with bleach. I normally would never recommend bleach but this is the only way. You'd have to rinse your tank very well as this is extremely toxic.

The Simaese algae eating barb is the only known fish that eats red algae. The fish is also known as Siamese Flying Fox, and Siamese Fox. Siamese Algae Eater is not very demanding. Suitable temperature is 24-26 C (75-79F). They can tolerate pH from 5.5 to 8.0, but 6.5-7.0 is ideal.

They are not aggressive, they can be kept in any community tank. They should not be kept with Red-tailed Sharks unless the aquarium is large and well planted, because that species is very aggressive towards all its relatives.

First you have to keep the filter on all night. If it is two loud try a Tetra Whisper or Rena Smartfilter. Also get some siamese algea eaters or plecos. Make sure your filter is the right size for your tank. If you dont want algae eaters there are little tablets you can put in your tank to get rid of algae.
