red dead redemption pre order content not working?

i got red dead redemption yesterday from game stop with a pre order for xbox 360 it came with the special Edition and the clothing so i tried to enter the code as Directed and every time it says the rockstar code server failed to connect is this something i can wait out or can i get it fixed
