Red Dead Online bluetooth question...?

Nobody seems to be able to answer this. I have a bluetooth and it's all setup, registered, everything. On the player list there's a speaker icon beside my name indicating I have a bluetooth. How can I tell if people can hear me or not? Nobody responds when I ask people if they can hear me. How do I find this out? Thanks
