red and yellow spots on chest

My friend has these strange red and yellow spots on her chest, and they are kind of blotchy looking. They are not bumps, and are only little rings, not complete circles. We are all wondering what they are because we are concerned that they may be contagious or even deadly.
 
Are they peachy-pink in color, or bright red-yellow?

Tinea Versicolor is a common problem in the summer months caused by an overgrowth of yeast on the skin. It can be peachy, beige, pink, or reddish. Using an anti-dandruff shampoo (Nizoral, Selsun) like a bodywash for a few days can usually clear it up.
