Use cotton bags or a trolley for your groceries. Ensure you take them out each time to use when shopping. It helps to reduce the amount of plastic going into landfill.
The majority of your household waste, i.e; veg peelings, teabags, dust can be composted. Placed in a purpose built bin in a sunny spot, the waste breaks down over several weeks/months & can be reused in the garden to help grow flowers etc.
Shop carefully. Avoid excess packaging. If you have a kerbside collection scheme the extra packaging e.g; boxes, plastic, paper bags, bottles etc. can be placed in there for a weekly/fortnightly collection by the council. The materials are then broken down & reused.
Replace a mobile phone only when you need to. There are several charities who will take mobiles & empty printer cartridges to recycle. Many stores will also take old phones in for recycling.
Brighten up old clothes by adding sequins, ribbon etc. or changing the hemline. If they are in reasonable condition but you no longer require them, there are always charity shops, TRADE boxes & clothing collections who can reuse them.
Hope this is of some use.
