I having relapse of back pain and sciatica, for the last three months.
And have been doing nothing but laying around on ice, trying to get better.
And I am gaining weight:-( and I'm still not better!

What about going on a recurabent bike for 20 min a day?
Do you guys think it will make me worse, I feel like a need to move and breath.
Its getting soooo old laying around in pain....

Movement is good.. but as to a recurabent bike.. I would not use one without my doctors or PT's approval first.

Walking is always the best and safest exercise for us spineys. It moves most of the necessary core muscles that support the spine.

I suppose it ultimately depenRAB on what is causing your back and sciatic pain. I have had different opinions on the use of a recurabent bike from different people. My surgeon said it would be OK if it didn't hurt after I did it. My PT told me "no way," as it put my spine in a compromising position...maybe the back is supported, but not in a position that is optimal.

You might try it briefly and see how it affects your sciatica. Of course it would make sense to check with your doctor first.

I would definitely consult your doctor before doing any exercise program.

With that said, I have heard the recurabent bike is good for sciatica pain but 20 minutes is alot to start with in my opinion. I would try maybe 5 minutes and if you can do it successfully without increased pain then bump it up to 10 minutes. Also I am a firm believer in pool therapy.
