Hey, I have the setup of a samson c01 condensor mic into a dmp3 preamp using a fast track pro audio interface. The sound was great at first, it was a big step up from using a cheap usb mic..buuutt...
Now that i'm more involved doing my music, I notice that the mic sounds a little harsh and doesnt fit well with my voice :/ I have a deeper voice and the mic is more of a high end, which forces me to rap in a higher tone(speaking from my throat, if you know what I mean) but it sounds unnatural. and it discourages me because It doesnt come out in the mix like I expected it to be. Whereas, my friend(who has a higher tone with no bass) his voice shows up better on the mix, and you can hear him word for word. As well as my sister, when she sung it sounded so clear and blended well with the mix.
I wanted to get a shure SM7b, and hopefully thicken and warm up my vocals, but im not sure if it would be wise, maybe I'm just being picky, and I don't want to have an issue with that mic when I get it, maybe its partly on how I'm saying my vocals. Idk...
P.S. And I know i DON'T suck at rapping... but I'm also not here to self promote
I just want to find a solution to this, because I want to start getting serious with my music, but I feel like I cant do that with amateur equipment.
