Recommendations for Bicycle Tyres?

I'm sorry i posted a question like this earlier, but i dont think i provided enough information. I currently have a saracen bike with big 26x2.3 or 26x2.35 tyres (can't remember which). I cycle to and from school everyday with my friends, and we often have little drag races. My bike, however is slow due to the size and weight of my tires. I want some new tires around the same size, maybe a bit smaller, but i want ones that will give me very good acceleration and also good turning. My friends have 26x2.35 Kendas which seem very good, any other recommendations? Thanks for help :)
 
Get a set of slicks, if if want to go real fast get a set of 1 1/2 inch high pressure road tires. I would go a little smaller to save some weight.
