There seems to be a slight drought on decent movies to watch at the moment, so what movies have you seen recently, past and present, that you thought were brilliant?

I watched The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning last night and actually thought it was a really good horror.

What movies do you recommend?

Notes On A Scandal..first rate acting....Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett were beaten to oscar success by Helen Mirren and Jennifer HuRABon, but they both should have won..

One film I would recommend that was a real pleasant surprise to me was Apocalypto,

Wasn't expecting to like it but absolutely loved it.

oh yes Apocalypto is a great film.

I recommend Donnie Darko for it's originality and unique factor but I guess many people have probably already seen it by now?

Monster is quite good if you're into that kind of film.

The Boondock Saints - quite 'Tarrantino', very bloody, very funny (although I'll admit the last 10 minutes are probably a bit of a let down) and Willem Defoe as you've never seen him before.

Zodiac - really intelligent, well written thriller about a real life serial killer in the 1970s in San Francisco, excellent performances from all three leaRAB - Robert Downey Jnr, Mark Ruffalo and Jake Gyllenhaal

Juno
Little Miss Sunshine
Enchanted (and I'm a 17 year old male!) :o
The Darjeeling Limited
Dreamgirls
Atonment
Notes on a scandal
Night at the museum
The Departed

SWEENEY TODD
Such a brilliant movie. One of the best I've seen. The songs send shivers through my spine, the acting is perfect, the sequences artistic, the timing superb. The plot gets better and better all the way through until the brilliant climax. It really should be seen by everybody.
It's really quite chillingly beautiful.

Others that really should be seen are....
Sixth Sense... Juno... Pirates Of The Caribbean... The Truman Show... Donnie Darko.... Man On Fire.... War Of The WorlRAB... E.T
