I have always loved taking pictures and am pretty good at it (being that I dont really know anything about actual photography) Learning how to actually do things properly is something I've wanted to do for a long time though.

I have a camera I love. Not just point and shoot but not too complicated either. It's the Canon S5IS. I have been playing aroudn with the settings and options but really want to know what they are for and how to use them (and not just like a manual on how to use my camera but actually like a "how-to" for eveeything invovled. using shutter speeds, saturation, etc)

Can anyone recommend a good (and easy to udnerstand!) book about beginner's photography/camera?

Thanks in advance!

All beginning photographers should read "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Very easy to read and well explaned.

basic photography by michael langford is the one they used to make you buy at 'a' level. that was 15 years ago so not sure aymore but may be worth seeing if they have new editions as it was a really good book.
