i am 17 years old and have been sexual active for two years. me and my boyfriend have been together since we were 14 and lost out virginity to each other and have only ever slept with each other.

i am currently taking the depo contraceptive injection.

however, recently, immediatley after having sex, i have been bleeding. i am experiencing no pain or iching. i will only bleed for the immediate mintes after having sex and then i have no bleeding until have sex again.

i am unsure on what it could be . i have an appointment with my doctor in a few days, i just wanted some information on that the possibilities could be before i go.

thanks .

i just thought i would add that the blood is coming from inside and i have no cuts around the outside of my vagina from what i can see or feel.
also i had an examination to check for any STIs in june 2008 following an abortion and everything came back clear and normal .

well its good that you are going to the doctors because thats the only way you can be sure of what this kind of problem is. its possible that you are having rough sex and your cervix has been damaged due to sex or due to an infection. there is also the possibility that this is due to hormonal issues.

main thing i wanted to say though is that depo is not a great thing. i know after an abortion they are all gung ho about giving depo, especially to young people. however there is some new research that has come out about depo causing problems with mineral loss in the bones which could lead to problems including osteoporosis in the future. besides that, depo is not without other side effects like very irregular periods and strange bleeding.

when you go to the doc, think about a different contraceptive maybe or condoms even.

good luck at the appointment.

i looked this up on yahoo.

if you have bled only once then i wouldn't be worried but if it happens all the time then that's a little concerning. here are some reasons you could be bleeding after sex.

-Inflammation of the cervix (cervicitis)
-Sexually transmitted diseases, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea
-Cervical polyps
-Cervical ectropion, a condition in which the cervical tissue is more susceptible to abrasion
-Pelvic inflammatory disease
-Uterine fibroids
-Cancer of the cervix, uterus or vagina
