Recent sickness worrying me

Hello, I'm pretty much brand new to these boards but I've scrolled through them before in the past to check my symptoms/compare what was wrong with me to others. Just to start off I'm a 19 year old male who almost never gets headaches but over the past few months since I moved to a new house I've been getting frequent severe headaches that can be very sharp or really dull at times.

About 3 months ago I started getting these headaches and every time I blew my nose there would be a green mucus and some blood, not like a nosebleed or anything just a small portion of blood, and the headaches weren't getting any better so I decided to go to an ER because that's all my insurance covers right now. They did a CT scan on me and everything was fine so they said it was most likely a sinus infection and gave me some anabolic steroids to help fight the infection and some Tramadol for the pain. My headaches went away but then a month later came back, this time without the green mucus. I thought it could be the dry air because my sinuses felt fairly dry so I decided to get some nasal spray, which didn't help the headaches either.

These headaches are behind my left temple and eye mainly and sometimes make my left ear feel muffled or like it's too full of wax. Another thing I should note is that when I get these headaches my pulse races and the veins in my temples swell up and pound along with my heart rate. Also when I wake up suddenly my head hurts the worst and my vision is blurry and my pulse is racing faster than normal/I feel like I'm out of breath. One last thing I wanted to mention was since last night I've had a dull sensation around my lungs when I breath and I keep feeling out of breath, and my resting heart has stayed steady around 98, which is higher than normal for me. Also when I woke up this morning I could barely breath and it felt like there was liquid in my lungs even though when I coughed nothing was coming up.

I apologize for how long this post is just I don't know where else to turn for answers before I go to the hospital again. Thanks ahead of time for anyone's help on this subject.

Since this began after moving to a new house, I would suspect there might be mold or mildew, or even some other toxin affecting you. Headaches, sinus problems and chest problems are common with exposure to these things.

If you are renting, have your landlord do a check for these things. If it is there, they need to fix it at no cost to you. If you are buying and have recently just purchased, it should have been part of the inspection done on the house before you signed the paper work. Check with home owner insurance and see if they cover coming out to do a check on it.

There is not much else I can recommend to you except that if you can find yourself where there might be mold or mildew (usually gray or brown spots on carpet and walls from water being left there a long time), you can kill it by spraying Lysol, but a professional damage clean-up is best.

In the meantime, you may need to go stay with a friend or relative. If you are out of the house for a while and your symptoms get better, then you can be pretty sure it is something in the house.

Take care and let us know what you find out!

Hi Lindaru, thanks for your advice! Actually within the past couple hours I was thinking about it and what went through my head was "I seem to get a little better everytime I'm out of my house and it has been quite humid in here a few times since I've been here" and then I searched for mold allergy symptoms and what I found were my exact symptoms. My girlfriend has also been exhausted constantly over the past two weeks so we decided to look under the bed and check the mattress/box spring and there it was, tons of little speckled black mold all over in the corners of the floor and all underneath the box spring. So we took the matresses outside and sprayed everything with lysol to see if that'd do the trick, if the problems persist with us though we may go to the doctor to get some tests done to see the extent of the mold exposure on us.

Hi there,

I'm pretty sure that bleach is the best thing to get rid of mold. If you haven't already, go back and clean the molded areas with bleach. I don't think spraying with lysol will take care of the problem.

Best wishes,

JB
