Recaro Como car seat in Ford Focus?

I got the Recaro Como car seat in the mail about a week ago now and we have had some issues installing it rear-facing in our 2004 Ford Focus. I have tried to use the LATCH straps and I cannot get it tight enough so it does not move more than 1 inch in any direction! In one other car I use I have been able to install in rear-facing in the middle with the outside LATCH anchors (Recaro and car manual says this is permissible). In the Focus I don't know if it's the middle seats or what but it's such a pain even with the pool noodle to make the base level with the ground! Ugh...anyone have this problem or have any suggestions??? ANY suggestions/input welcome:)

Thanks!

Tried rear-facing in the side seats as well....same problem but with less movement^^

CarSeatData.org rates the fit of different seats in cars. It doesn't rate the Recaro you have, but it rates another Recaro as a great fit and has a few others rated as a great fit so you may need a different seat.

The other issue is that you may not actually have center LATCH anchors in the seat location. I ran into this problem with my Corolla. You'll need to consult your car's owner's manual but in my experience many sedans only have anchors at the door seat locations. I tried to look it up and the closest mention I could find was somebody saying the 2005 Focus doesn't have center anchors. Again, check your car owner's manual for exact anchor locations in your car. If there are no LATCH anchors for the center then you'll have to try seeing if you can good a good installation with the seat belt.

It evidently doesn't fit the Focus seats correctly. Not every car seat will work in every car on the market. The only suggestion I have is to get someone who outweighs you to put their knee in the seat and jerk the straps tighter.
