I have 1995 Toyota corolla DX 1.8L. From last week Air bag light is on in my toyota but the intresting thing is air bag light is coming only after i switch off the ignition.Air bag light is on all the time when car is idle.
When i start the car again next day, check engine light goes away till the time i am driving but as soon as ignition is off, air bag light is on again. I went to the dealer and they told me that Air bag module was faulty and it costs 650$ to fix it. I came back home and tried to check recalls for this issue and found out there was a recall (Recall number:-RC-96V107) for air bag issue if the liquid is spilled in Console box area. Recall was done for this car in 2002 and as per toyota after recall there will a vinyl coating on sensor so that if there is liquid spill again in console box area, it should not affect Air bag module sensor.
Air bag light came on in my toyota after one week when there was a coffee spill in my car console box. I called toyota and they said recall was already done so if the issue come again due to same reasons, they can not do anything now and i have to pay for the repairs?
How should I proceed on this issue?
Thanks
Mahi
Hi All,
Thanks in advance for replying!!
Can you also tell me below mentioned things about toyota dealership repairs?
1.) Will dealership provide me correct information on the issue fix? like the issue in air bag sensor came due to liquid spill?
2.) can i ask the toyota delaer to give me faulty part after replacing faulty part? Do i need to pay extra for getting faulty part?
Hi All,
I also called toyota but toyota rep is telling me that recall was done and there is only one year warranty for recall. if issue come again, they will not fix it?
I am also not sure if the dealer will tell me exact issue after the repair as dealer is aware about the recall. I do not think that they will be telling me exact truth about the issue OR they have to fix it free of cost under the Recall..
