I need to know if anybody thinks or knows for a fact that there were any controversy about the book Rebecca by Daphne du Maurie? (Like for Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn there were controversy about the use of the word nigger.)
Also, were there any historical significance of the book, Rebecca?
And lastly, what do you believe the theme of the book is? I have a couple of ideas of what the theme might be, such as about a young insecure woman who throughout the story becomes more mature and confident. I don't think that would be considered theme, but let me know if you have any ideas as to what the theme might be in your opinion.
