Reasons to go to a summer camp?

I am writing a novel and I need suggestions as to why a teenage girl would want to go to summer camp.

It needs to be a somewhat serious reason, or else people wouldn't want to read the book. I was thinking maybe the protagonist's friend dies, so she goes to camp to get her mind off things. But I believe there are better and more enticing reasons out there.

Please help, and all suggestions are accounted for.

Thanks. :]

To meet more people or just new people. Heard something about the camp that makes it sound interesting (boys, activities, horses?) What do you think?

There's abuse going on at her house. And this guy she really likes is going, and theyre really good friends. So they go together. And he ends up saving her life, and its like a summer fling and everything.

...? haha, uhm, i tried. =D

1) protagonist acts unruley and parents send her to straighten out her act.

2) she has gone there he whole life and its the only place she ever feels accepted.

3) its a specailized camp, like a rehab or a fat camp, a cooking or acting or band camp.

4) wants to go to to prove something to herself or to her family or to overcome something.

5) or she hears that her family is making her go because of plans they made for the summer.

im not sure if that helps but good luck!!
