Reason for gears in bikes?

Why we have gears in bikes like Pulsar but not in bikes like Activa?it would be easier for the driver if there is no gear as he can concentrate wholly on driving.
 
They're just neat to have. After all, aren't bikes used for leisure as well as fitness, along with transportation? Some people need gears and others do not. It isn't hard to change gears, either, when one gets to know their bike well enough. Need to go up a hill? It's much easier on everything to ease into lower gear. Wanna go faster? Switch it up! Wheeeee! :)
