rear header nut stripped....HELP

First off, I am new to this forum and been lurking for a very long time. From the get go I know the people here are very knowledgeable so I hope you guys can help me out. Well I have a 848 and just picked up a full termi system. I started the install today and practically finished except for one part which is the rear header pipe. I got two nuts off but couldnt get the one on the passenger side. I used both a open and close wrench that were grind down a bit which was recommended by a few of the members here. Well the nut is practically stripped now and I have no idea what to do now. I still can get a little grip on it but every time i try to turn it just gets even more rounded. Any ideas or am I basically screwed? Im pretty sure if I try to bring it to the dealer they are going to charge me a arm and a leg with a little smirk on their face for my mistake. Anyways thanks in advance.

Pick yourself up a set of rounded nut removers....seriously it's a real tool.
Give the threads a shot of WD-40 or PB blaster before you start.


Found a set on Amazon for twenty bucks, Sears carries 'em too.

Thx for the welcome. I was planning on picking those up at sears tomorrow. Problem is I dont think it will fit in that tight space. I had to cut my wrench into half and grind down the outer wall just to get into that spot. Im so frustrated that I am about to just cut the damn pipe off so I could get in there with a wrench and socket. I figure I wouldnt need the stock pipe anymore since I got the new system. Thx for the tip though.
 
I know it's a tight space in there but you do have options. You might try cutting the nut with a Dremmel tool and a cutoff wheel, or maybe turning it with needle nose vise-grips 1/4 turn at a time. I guess worse case scenario you could cut the header, just make a couple marks first and cut through them, this will give you a way to line it up so a shop can TIG it back together. Have you tried a crow's foot?
 
Crow foot won't work on a near rounded nut. I suppose you could try out of desperation. The tool in the photo is the best method. I had to do the same thing as the area is sooo tight. If you have the room, Ten-6 idea using a needle nose vice grip might work. Even a quarter turn at a time is better than nothing. As you have stated, cutting off the header may be your last resort, or better yet take her to a dealer and let them sort it out.
 
The stripped nut remover socket will not fit and you are just going to do more damage if you use and open ended crows foot. I appears as though you are using crappy tools. If you look at the head nut it is actually two different sizes. A box end 10mm 12 point wrench fits it best. If you use the open end of a 10mm it will only fit on the nut one way, the other way is a 9mm if my memory serves me correct. First time I have seen a nut like that before. Either way you are only going to be able to turn the nut 1/4-1/8 of a turn each time, that nut requires some patience. DO NOT try and cut the nut off with a dremel, odds are you will end up srewing up the threads on the exhaust head stud and then you are in for a whole whack of problems. Good Luck
