I have had an interest in photography for about 3 or 4 years now, 2 of which I have been completely serious about. I have a strong passion for the art of photography and have considered going to school for it and making a profession of it (if I happen to get good enough haha) but I keep hearing from lots of people that the photography field is VERY competitive and the pay isn't amazing either.

I'm 19 and I'm at the point in my life where I have to decide which path to take.
Keep doing this and pursue a career in the field or keep it as a hobby and make a career out of something else?
(I'm obviously not gonna base my decision completely off of an internet forum, but some input from people knowledgable about the field would be helpful)
