my little girl is 12months and had a awfull rash on her face for a couple of months. the doc has said it looks like eczema but isnt because its not in the usual places. hes treating it with some different moisturising creams and said its probably some kind of sensativity to something or everything coming into contact with her skin. he has said its definatly not food because she doesnt seem to have tummy problems. but im convinsed its food, it nearly always always flares up when she eats but i cant pin point anything inparticular. now its appeared all round her lips too, abit blistery looking. could it be food? im going back to the docs tomorrow and i want to be arned with info. can she be tested so young? any suggestions?

thanks sian

Interesting! If you feel pretty sure it's a food that's triggering the rash, I'd keep a food log of every single thing she eats each day. Then when she suddenly breaks out, you will be able to remeraber what all she had recently eaten. I hope you find a solution soon. Do you think it could be something like the laundry detergent you use, or maybe an allergy to a pet?

Hi -- Have you considered allergy to detergents or soap. I had a rash at two weeks old (30+ years ago), and my mom finally figured out through experiments that I was allergic to nearly every detergent and fabric softner possible, except for very plain scent-free Tide. I still use scent-free, plain Tide to this day. I can now get away with another kind occaisonally, but I can't wear clothes washed in another kind more than a few days in a row, or I still get rashes and eczema. It's horrible.

Hi there,

some places can do a blood test to see what fooRAB the little one is allergic too...much easier than the scatch test and more peaceful for family!!
I would start with not using any soaps on clothes and linen to see if that helps!!
