Really hard to start. Help!!

I keep my battery on a trickle charger when the bike isnt being used. Lately when I unplug it and try to start the bike its like the battery is week. Its hard to turn the engine over but when it does it starts. The charging system seems ok while I'm riding cuz the volt meter goes to 14 when I have power on and goes back down to 10 to 12 when power is off. Everything seems ok when running just weird when starting. I just got the battery about a month ago. Maybe something wrong with the battery? It charges acording to the lights on the charger. I get a full 12 volts with a meter. Starter going bad? I'm baffeled. Any opinions? Thanks in advance.
 
I had a similar situation while on a trip. It finaly went out and I was left trying to check out fuzes etc. After an hour of looking I found that a terminal on the battery had gotten loose. In fact it had begun to arc and melted some of the plastic battery cover over the termninal.

Check the easy stuff out first.

Do you have a trickle charger or tender? Even if it is a tender it can't repair a bad battery. I've seen a battery slowly lose its power but the tender was giving a green light like it was good. If your terminals aren't loose then maybe you got a bad one. Maybe the shop you bought it from can do a proper load test to see.
 
take your battery out and take it to the auto part store and get them to put a 300 CCA load on it to see if it's good...make sure you terminals are clean and tight...Could be either...
 
Delrin battery tender. The battery was just replaced about a month ago. Bad already? Its not a lose terminal. I just checked
 
Could be bad. Not unheard of for batteries to short out or have a bad cell and not be able to take the load. Should be warrantied, no?
 
Check your ground cables...There is one down by the starter that can work loose...look at where your starter bolts into the backside of the primary.
