I have been receiving allergy shots 2 times a week for quite some time. I have had severe allergies to nearly everything outsite and in for my entire life. I've had a little redness and swelling with the shots...nothing too bad. I got my dosage moved up and did fine the first time. I did 2 shots in mt right arm, one in the left. I was fine until about 6 hrs following the shot. My arm started to swell so much that I was uncomfortable and the area was hot to the touch. Took benadryl and went to bed. Next day still big but worse. It's so swollen I have no elbow and its still itchy and hot to the touch. Took more benadryl. Will it go away with time? Help!

Call your allergy doctor and let him know.

Yes, it will go away eventually, but if it's been swollen this long, it might take several days.

Do you take an antihistamine the morning of your shots? If not, check with your doc first but it could help. Or they may want to just back up a step for a week or so.

I always get swelling, redness & itching or soreness from my shots. You should let the dr/nurses know, they will probably repeat the dose instead of increasing. My arms did that probably for the first couple of years of the shots, now the swelling is less though
