Re-Payable Loans with high interest rates - are these essential to civilisation?

** please read the scenario below, featuring two actors - Mr. Bob and Mr.Joe **

Mr Bob gave Mr Joe $30,000 in 1998, and arranged for Mr Joe to pay it ALL back nicely by the fall of 2009.

Its around that time when Mr Joe must cough up the $30,00 PLUS the compound interest it accumilated over a span of 11 years.

Mr Joe however, has fallen way short - is severely depressed and his marriage is hanging by a thread.

Mr Bob, spends 8 months a yaer travelling the world doing fun things like 'playing golf, sipping cocktails and lavish whiskey on exotic islands, riding the finest arabian horses in dubai, dining in the best restraunts New York has to offer, spends lavishly across London, gets his clothes tailor made by the leading fashion designers in Italy, gets VIP level access to movie awards....ah what a life for Mr Bob.

it seems somebodies doing alright.

But poor old Mr Joe.

what becomes of him ?

as far as Mr Bob is concerned - Mr Joe had signed a deal, no, a CONTRACT - one he must honour.

If he cannot fulfil the demands of that contract - Mr Bob will take Mr Joe to court and sue him till his last dime in the pocket !

He's not committed any crime here, Mr Bob. So don't look at him as if hes a vile nasty piece of work. Whatever wealth he has, he got it from hard work down the years - thus being able to set up a loan company of his own where he can give loans to people.

In his defence - he gave a large sum of money to Mr.Joe when Mr.Joe was having a financial crisis and all loan companies refused to issue him a loan.

Now Mr.Joe is on the verge of a mental breakdown and has already been diagnosed with severe depression. Mr.Joe spends his after work evenings drowning his sorrows away over a few shots, and beers.

Mr. Joe has a MSc in Business finance, yet is stuck in a dead end job which doesn't recognise his true worth and all his colleagues and peesr and seniors boss him around and make fun of him.

He feels trapepd, lost, angry with society and saddened that his marriage is a faliure. In fact, if Mr.Joe is to lose the court case - his hosue shall be repossessed but NOT before his Wife and kids leave him for good.

What ADVICE would YOU give to Mr.Joe to turn things around ?

or is it all over for this fella ?

secondly - in this scenario, do you feel that Loans are the grandest design of the devil himself ?

they do say money is the root of all evil right ?
