LIbral in a stray-jacket

i just replaced a head gasket on one side of the engine.
I understand that the engine absolutely has to be in top dead center.
So all i have to do is check the timing and then i can reinstall the rockers and push rods and then i can put everything back together ? ? ?
If i see the timing mark than that means i have tdc?
