I have had my 2008 848 for a few months now, and I have to say I LOVE IT! However, after I did a track day I am really wanting to re-gear it.

I know some threads have probably already discussed this topic but, It would be a great help if someone would lemme know if they have changed the gearing on thier 848. And what they think about the performance change.

I want to to go -1, +2

Any feed back would be great!

Thanks

How bout just one down on the front to start with? You may be happy with that and save lots of cash not buying a rear sprocket.

Yea that suggestion has come up alot, I will probably start with the front sprocket for sure, and see If I like the results.

I was just wondering if anyone has gone to -1 +2 and what they thought about it.

I have a 1098, so tell me to go to hell if you want.

I went with the 520 RKX and ALTH quick change aluminum rear, ultra light fronts. I scaled the stock when I took it off, and new as it was going on. One F$#@ing lb. $500 for 1lb.

Any way, I used the 16 X 37 at Bonneville. I got a 14 with the set, but have never tried it, or the 39. The stock 15 X 38 work so good for me at the track.
The ALTH does not go up to 40, or down to 36, so I only have 3 choices.

BTW. Welcome.

1098's Rock ass man! I would totally have one if my pocket book allowed it.

Meh....But my 848 will have to do for now..(Oh poor me) LMAO!

During my search for sprockets I have noticed my choices are limited and expensive.
I found one made by stealth (supersprox) that will fit with the OEM carrier. It's $162.00 bucks but for now I think I will order the front and see how I like it.

Thanks for the welcome!

You bet. The stealth sprocket Kicks A$$ for the money. It weighs the same as the ALTH, but the outer part is steel, so it will out last at 1/2 the cash. If I could do it again, that is what I would do.

What tracks have you taken it too, and witch is next?

Cresson Motorsports ranch in Texas is in my back yard basicly, so that is the only track I have taken the Duc to.

I herd Eagles Canyon is pretty cool too, but I have yet to venture there.

Heh, I just noticed there is a section for the 848 post..Duh....Oh well

To answer your -1 +2 question; IMO i think that would be to low, it would be wheelie prone and would run out of grunt at the end of the straights. Try the 14T front first i think you'll find that it's what you're looking for.

Oh and welcome to the board. Post up some pics of your bike and the track days when you get the chance.
