RDS HD

Agent Express Vu recently on another thread revealed that BEV would soon have RDS HD.

My question on that thread has been deleted as off topic, so here's its own topic.

Can you tell us the timeline of the addition of this channel to the mix?

I understand they are going to have the Habs games in HD.

I have a personal question please as well. I am on a legacy package (ultimate 7) and have RDS. However, not as a theme, but as a channel I get for a dollar a month. My HD channels are one of my themes as well.

I have been prohibited from adding HDNet to my package, because of the legacy issue. I am very reluctant to switch away from my Ultimate 7.

Will I be prohobited from having RDS HD even though I have RDS now.

I would be willing to pay big for it, as long as I got it.

thank you for your time on this web site. I have appreciated your insight.

No time frame on when the channel will come out...

No you most probably woudn't get the channel unless you switch to Genesis...

You will soon get a 5$ increase on you r

Well, I had a feeling that I was going to get upset about that one. That will be a hell of a tough decision. That will cost me about 20 dollars a month. I have already figured it out. That's a lot of money to get the Habs in HD.

Merci d'avoir me repondu

Also looks like the HD will be only for Habs *home* games. In other words they will leave their HD setup at the Bell Centre (and use the opposition team's feed for away games). Which means that any game in Montreal (on CBC/SNet/TSN/etc.) can be broadcast in HD.

Can I assume that RDS-HD will also be carried by Rogers cable? It's not exlusive or anything, right?

RDS is currently revamping their whole Montreal infrastructure to make the change to HD. Their expected launch in HD is expected to be Oct 1.

Have a look at board I posted on the Legacy price increase theme...it gives you all the old Legacy theme packs and in which themes channels are on Genesis

Like I said, I figured it out already and it's 20 dollars more.

To be logical, if it weren't more money, why would BEV be so enthused about people switching over from legacy?

To make our job simpler as well as realtion with consumer...

Imagine this... A friend ask you how much you are paying for your RDS. 1$ you say. Client calls BEV. He only has one theme. RDS can not be bought individually under Genesis programming. He has to buy the theme. He doesn't care for Canal Vie and LCN, might find RIS info, but all he really cares for is RDS. The theme will cost him 8$ cause he has less than 5 themes. Friend is angry... argues over and over with rep that his friend is getting it at 1$, which is true, but it's IMPOSSIBLE for him to get it at that price. The result in those situation is often a supervisor call, wich doesn't give more to the client unfortunately.

As you mentionned prices are a little higher... somore revenu. For fairness to our Genesis customer as well. Why would you be getting the same programming than me for 20$ less?

Codes are still in the system, but it is totallly forbidden to add a theme keeping the client on Legacy. If a client wants to add a theme we should migrate him to Genis, explain him the situation, and the pro-rata charges. If client is angry about the increase that it will create we could use the line that anyways he would have been price increased of 5$ keeping Legacy and also we could tell him we would waive off the difference for 1 month, if he disagrees we try 2 months, and the maximum 3.

If client wants to downgrade we could keep him in Legacy plateform taught. Most agent will advise you otherwise since they know that switching will cause an increase in price. By telling you you have to switch mosty client will decide not to

To force clients to move on to Genesis we offered this summer 20$ PPV credits and movie offers pay the first month get the second free.

Also we increased the system charge from 2.99$ to 5.99$ last year. That system charge will be gone by switching

If you have more than one receiver, we also added a multiple receiver charge of 2.99$ for suscribers with movies and 4.99$ for those who doesn't have movies. If you never had that charge and call us we will tell you that it should have been apllied all the way since system charge came along, and we should add the code for them to start billing you. That charge will disapear by switching

For free??? You need to get the theme to get it, no matter if you have NHL or not

I never saw that information in Info Zone (our agents information system)...will make further verifications Wednesday as i'm not working tommorow. Will keep you informed

RDS is part of Center Ice for those in the country that are not in the East blackout area.

For those in Montreal, and those in Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, quite rightfully so, RDS is blacked out as a Centre Ice channel, but available as a regular themed channel.

The same way if you live in Red Deer, then when you have a Centre Ice game from let's say Edmonton Calgary, then you do not receive that game as part of Centre Ice, but do receive it as part of Sportsnet West.
